Levison Wood (born May 5, 1982〔https://twitter.com/Levisonwood/status/595659678580867072〕) was an Officer in the British Parachute Regiment. He is best known for his year long trek; the first ever expedition to walk the entire length of the river Nile from Nyungwe Forest, beginning in December 2013. It was commissioned into a four part documentary series for Channel 4 and is also available in a book detailing the expedition ‘Walking the Nile’. ==Life== Wood grew up in Forsbrook in the Staffordshire Moorlands,〔http://www.standard.co.uk/lifestyle/tough-guy-levison-wood-on-walking-the-nile-and-looking-for-love-10162398.html〕 before obtaining an Honours Degree in History at Nottingham University. He served for a number of years as an Officer in the British Army where he served in Afghanistan in Helmand, Kandahar and Zabul in 2008. He has since left the army taking up a career in journalism and photography.
